Building Resilient Cities - Designing Resilient Waste Systems
Around the world, poor sanitation practices and waste systems encourage an unhygienic environment that can lead to the spread of diseases and affect the health of the people. Key features of sustainable waste systems involve proper solid waste disposal sites and recycling programs. But problems arise from waste contaminants that pollute our air, ocean, lakes, and rivers. What are we disposing of that we can reclaim? What shouldn't be waste at all?
This session will address how San Diego can build a resilient waste system through reducing waste generation, increasing the lifespan of our only landfill, and more.
